Modular Sizing Die – 223 Remington

$67.22 $97.47
Description Modular Sizing Die – .223 Remington Our new Modular Sizing Dies support a family of cartridges. The Modular Sizing Die – .223 Remington works with rifles chambered for SAAMI .223 Remington reamers. Each die includes one Neck/Shoulder Bushing of your choice, so be sure to select the desired bushing from the menu before adding the die to your cart. The Modular Sizing Die .223 Remington is designed for chambers based on SAAMI .223 Remington. The Modular Die sizes more at the base and less at the shoulder than traditional resizing dies, reducing case sticking and excessive sizing force in properly chambered rifles. (If your chamber has excessive headspace or is oversized, be aware that sizing force may increase.) We use 17-4 H1150 stainless steel and apply a nitriding process for superior lubricity. Made in the USA Email us with your reamer specifications to confirm compatibility: [email protected] Our Modular Sizing Die’s unique design allows the die body to size the cartridge’s body geometry, while a “Neck / Shoulder Bushing” sizes the cartridge’s shoulder and neck geometry. This design lets you use a single die body for the entire cartridge family. We precision-machine our Modular Sizing Dies to optimize sizing of fired brass. Our resizing dies size the base of the cartridge slightly more than the shoulder. Drawing from precision CNC machining and tooling practices, we designed the Modular Sizing Die with shallow tapers, not threads, to properly center and secure the Solid Decapping Pin. This tapered geometry improves concentricity and repeatability. Our sizing geometry sizes a bit more at the base and less at the shoulder than typical resizing dies. In properly sized rifle chambers, this reduces extraction issues with fired brass, minimizes case runout, and reduces excessive brass wear. Modular Sizing Die Assembly Modular Sizing Die Body: Uses standard 7/8 x 14 threads and 17-4 stainless steel with a special Salt Bath Nitride finish for increased lubricity and performance over other resizing dies. Universal Solid Decapping Pin: Constructed from high-strength 1144 Stress Proof Steel with a .058” diameter pin tip to fit in small primer flash-holes. You can adjust the pin tip protrusion by repositioning the wide-mouth retaining clip. Knurled ER11 Top Cap: The ¾ x 24 Threads on the Knurled ER11 Top Cap tighten it into the die body, compressing the ER11 collet to secure the Decapping Pin or Expander Mandrel for superior concentricity. ER11 Collet: A commercially available ER11 collet secures various Decapping Pin and Expander Mandrel diameters. Taper Adapter: Threading the Knurled ER11 Top Cap into the die body seats the ER11 Collet into the Taper Adapter, securing the Decapping Pin or Expander Mandrel. The Taper Adapter sits above the Neck/Shoulder Sizing Bushing, allowing it to float. Neck / Shoulder Bushings: Available in multiple caliber-specific neck diameters. You can use special .001” shims above the Neck/Shoulder Bushing to adjust headspace without changing the die’s thread position. Setting up Your Short Action Customs Modular Sizing Die Make sure the resizing die is clean inside. We recommend using a .40 caliber plastic pistol brush with a 12-gauge shotgun patch to clean out the die body. Assemble your Modular die as shown in the instructions. With the reloading press ram fully raised, thread the resizing die into the top of the reloading press until it touches the shell holder. Lower the ram, then tighten the die slightly further to achieve “cam over” with the press. Secure the die body lock ring. For Area 419 Zero Press users, we suggest threading the die in an additional 1/8″ turn after it touches the shell holder. Use a headspace comparator that contacts the brass shoulder to establish the fired brass headspace. Lubricate a piece of clean, fired brass and smoothly cycle it through the Modular Sizing Die. Compare the sized brass headspace to the fired brass. We recommend reducing fired brass headspace by .001”-.003” for most shooting applications. To adjust the headspace further, thread the resizing die body into the press more or less. We also recommend Redding Competition Shell Holders for finer adjustment. Alternatively, place or remove custom .001″ shims supplied with your die between the “Neck/Shoulder Bushing” and the “Taper Adapter.” What’s Included in the Package Modular Sizing Die Body Standard orange or grey lock ring ER11 Top Cap Taper Adapter ER11 Collet Decapping Pin (4) .001″ Shims Cardboard Shipping box
