The Firebox Cooking Stone is made of a porous ceramic material that needs to be sealed through a seasoning process (like a cast-iron pan). Seasoning is accomplished by wiping the stone down with vegetable oil (or other high smoke point cooking oil) and heating the stone to a temperature between 375 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 to 3 hours.
