Learning to take strike and dip measurements isn’t easy. It takes practice. To practice you need a surface to measure. Stacks of books fall over or are easily changed as multiple students come up to measure and going on a field trip to get to real rock isn’t always practical. The strike and dip trainers can be set up in the classroom, outside on the lawn, or anywhere else you want. Get multiple and create simulated anticlines, synclines, and more for your students to measure for practice or as a test. These trainers are made of non-magnetic aluminum with nylon hardware so your compass will not be affected. Just loosen the wing nuts, set an angle, tighten the nuts by hand, and set out the trainers to be measured! Each trainer has an engraved A and B side so you can specify which surface is to be measured. There are symmetrical (5.5″ x 8″ measuring surfaces on both sides) and asymmetrical (5.5″ x 8″ and 5.5″ x 10″ measuring surfaces) versions available to make it easy to set up any angle, anywhere, on any surface.
